update 29/03/2015 Current A380-destinations served by BAW from LHR (LHR not included): 7 LAX--HKG--JNB--IAD--SIN--SFO--YVR- Fabien --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BA will received their first A380 to be delivery sometime in 3qtr of 2013. Which the specific route will be first A380 flight? I think they will have a crew training flight for a short-time before they started a long haul flight. BA will inaugurated the A380 service to HKG, JFK, SIN, and etc.

Looking at the schedules, it seems to me at least that they would need 3 A380s in order to operate those routes. 2 on the LHR-HKG route and one on the LHR-LAX. I'm guessing that the reason the routes start in October/November because they need to wait for MSN 121 and 124 to be delivered.
I'd like to think that we will see some limited A380 service inbetween when MSN095 is delivered and October/November once they have received MSNs 121 and 124. Possibly some kind of "in service flight test". I wouldn't be surprised to see MSN095 on LHR-JFK a couple of times before October just to "test the water".
At least I hope so anyway!

LAX will start three times weekly from the 15th Oct operating BA 269 and BA268 If I'm reading the schedule correct, it will actually begin with 5x weekly. 3x on BA269 and 2x on BA283. From Oct. 27, BA269 will go to 5x weekly. Although I'm not sure if BA282 will continue at 2x weekly, meaning they will send the A380 to LAX 7x weekly (2 flight on Monday and Friday, none on Tuesday and Saturday) or if only BA269 will operate with the A380 after Oct 27

Can't wait & will give it a go but hopefully long haul cabin crew have improved since my last flight to JNB 2 years ago...no point in having the best plane if service is poor (IMHO)...if not then I'll still use Virgin or pop to FRA & onto Lufthansa for US / Africa. SE Asia/Aus has much better competition. Fingers crossed though!
