Airbus helicopters not immune to manufacturing faults and emergency checks! H225 helicopters face engine safety issue 08 October, 2019 SOURCE: FlightGlobal.com BY: Dominic Perry London Operators of the Airbus Helicopters H225 are facing a fresh safety issue, this time focused on the heavy-twin’s Safran Helicopter Engines Makila 2 powerplants. www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/h225-helicopters-face-engine-safety-issue-461319/European safety regulators are mandating, via an emergency airworthiness directive, the replacement of certain bevel gears in the engine’s number one module...“Subsequent investigations identified rupture of several teeth of the module 1 bevel gear, due to fatigue propagation,” says EASA. This was traced to a manufacturing fault afflicting a batch of the components, it says.

Germany lines up 60-unit H145M purchase By Dominic Perry26 February 2020 www.flightglobal.com/helicopters/germany-lines-up-60-unit-h145m-purchase/136952.articleGermany is looking to buy more than 60 Airbus Helicopters H145Ms to address a broad spectrum of missions - including training and light attack - chiefly for its army. In fact, the army requires nearly 50 helicopters on its own: 24 for training and a further 24 as battlefield utility helicopters to equip its three aviation regiments. The navy and air force are likely to need another 16 aircraft between them.
