I thought EY was a rich airline, supported by the government of Abu Dhabi, but, now i see that they need a loan from abroad (Korea) to take a single airplane. Really EY is a sandcastle and I firmly believe it will collapse. Much publicity for this plane and they have not been able to fly second frame yet. I am very disappointed of EY. this year i chose the Bentley Bentayga as motivation, bye Etihad.

I am sorry that I was right few weeks back speculating the question how many airlines could live happily in the Persian Gulf ? And not surprisingly the smallest of the trio has problems.

Peter I never said I have some real data - I said and say still I have a feeling, based on observation of what is going on and how they (and the other 2 big players) operate - that is all.
What is going on supports this feeling further.
I am afraid that we will see the numbers - but I still do hope we will not.

This is a bold statement ! Are you saying this just because they used foreign finance, or is it because you suppose they had to defer one delivery pending a financial agreement ?

OK please let's stop the speculations. I only shared some suspicion.... and as I believe a valid question: how many big airlines carrying mostly people not from the gulf through the gulf from various origins to various destinations can succeed ? Of course there is an amount of people having the gulf area as their origin/destination but they are the minority. We observe the rapid growth of the other two. I was provoked by 9vswv's comment.... True is it might be normal - we well know that EK's frames are financed by many not gulf institutions from all over the globe and there is no suspicion of any kind connected.

... I believe a valid question: how many big airlines carrying mostly people not from the gulf through the gulf from various origins to various destinations can succeed ? ... I think I remember Tim Clark predicted only EK and QR would survive in the long term. I have no link, though ...
