This conversation here a380.boards.net/post/61383/thread ...Sleeper Planes or SP, just thought that's already been done by the B747SP These days that "Special Performance" is just A330 territory. Just imagine the day we get LHR-AKL non-stop. It will probably be called the OMFGHaul. led me wonder, how long is too long for a flight?.... Of course we all have our likes and dislikes and preferences, from people prefering not to fly at all, to people liking ULHs like me for example.. Extending the subject, what's the longest flight everyone's ever had?..

Well, my longest flight was about 12 hours, but that already several times. Have another one of those coming up next month again. For me personally, that is already too long. The problem: I can only afford Economy class, and I'm almost 190 cm tall - so there's no way to stretch out my legs and sleep. I really enjoy flying for up to, say, 8 hours, but anything longer than that makes me question my initial excitement. Might be different if I could fly Business Class, though... An OM*GHaul flight I would definitely not spend voluntarily in Economy class...

Have another one of those coming up next month again. lol, I don't know what aircraft you flew in, but you probably had it much better than I have. My longest ever flight was 14 hours 15 mins DXB-YYZ. And what worse way to do it than in the dreaded torture chamber called the EK 777 3-4-3 economy. It was mostly night all the way, you have a meal, exhaust your IFE options, go to sleep, wake up in pain and realise ****, there's another 50% of the flight to go... My ideal duration would be 7-10 hours. As with you, I wouldn't mind doing an OMFGHaul flight if it were in something spacious like business class. But for more than just thrifty reasons, I prefer to break it up. To put it as an aviation enthusiast, it's twice the fun to do two flights than a single loooooong one, don't you agree?

LHR-SIN on a BA 747 and back on a QF A380.
Never mind the type of aircraft, I simply hate long-haul flights. Looking out an airplane window for over 12 hours gives me a pain in the neck, sitting in an airplane seat for over 12 hours gives me a pain in the *ss, looking at a small screen for over 12 hours gets me bored and after a few hours I want a cigarette

Well, I hope they configure those 787s in 8 abreast! Unfortunately not although seat pitch apparently will be good. www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-ceo-promises-very-luxurious-boeing-787-configurationAlan Joyce has also mentioned MEL-DFW and SYD-ORD as other potential routes for the 787 with SYD-ORD being longer than PER-LHR. Will we actually see them do this? as s543 says, we shall see!
