Some strange remarks in the article, suggesting the Skymark order was the first ever scored by Airbus in Japan

Deliveries in 2018 - so it seems as not those Skymark frames ! Why would they wait for over 2 years ?

Why would they wait for over 2 years ? You don't grab a taxi to Toulouse, buy a few A380's and put them into service a few weeks later. More important, it seems Hawaiian airports are not quite ready for A380's at this time.

Anyhow, Bloomberg confirming the deal based on insider sources gives the information a lot of credibility. Another major new piece of information is that ANA intends to set up a new strategic plan, to be disclosed later this month.

ANA's order might be for three brand new frames. I respectfully disagree. Airbus needs to get rid of those white-tails (even though they are actually blue) in TLS

Airbus needs to get rid of those white-tails (even though they are actually blue) in TLS On the 22/12/2015 one of the Skymark ones disappeared from the flight line and then re appeared the next day ! You don't move a stored frame away and then back for no reason ! I wonder what they looked at or tested out of sight ? a380.boards.net/post/64125/thread

Deliveries in 2018 - so it seems as not those Skymark frames ! Why would they wait for over 2 years ? In article it says about fiscal year. In Japan 2018 fiscal year starts 1 April 2017 and ends 31 March 2018. That means deliveries may start for one year and three months.

We know that ANA won the right to negotiate with Skymark's creditors back in August.
We know that Airbus was one of those creditors, with the cancelled A380 contract being a large part of what they were claiming.
The rumours suggest that an agreement is near to completion between ANA and Airbus. We hope this will involve ANA as a new A380 operator.
The timing of the 'news' is 'interesting', it could just be journalist's speculation, helping to fill in during a period when there is no hard news. No that would be too cycnical .....
