3 a350-1000 deliveries was planned for UA in 2018. And UA deferred 4 frames from 2018. So that information was not right anyway.

UA deferred 4 frames from 2018. So that information was not right anyway. Careful reading of the Flightglobal piece does not clarify the previously planned 2018 delivery number. "United Airlines has deferred its first four Airbus A350-1000 deliveries, as it continues to consider alternatives to the aircraft. The Chicago-based carrier says the deliveries have been moved 'out of 2018' ..." So, the first four deliveries were deferred, possibly including three 2018 deliveries, and the first 2019 delivery. What's clear is that no delivery is sheduled anymore in 2018.

don't even feel surprise if they cancel the order in the end ........ This order is extremely difficult to cancel. Over the years, several sources have claimed that the penalty for a cancellation would be unusually large. Those who don't believe that UA will take the A350 expect a conversion to another Airbus type (A321neo or A330neo). This way out of the contract has, however, been made more difficult by UA's 737 MAX 10 order and its recent comments that the A330neo does not fit its needs. A very difficult negociation must be going on. For the moment, Airbus may be satisfied to defer some deliveries to save delivery slots that could help to win new orders.

Well United is for AB "tough cookie". They are simply "Boeing" airline - even if they are taking right now quantity of second hand A319s.

An optimistic take on Kirby's comments above : the A350 is a great plane, so we'll take it, but a sub-fleet of 35 would be too small, we must order some more ...
