It is funny - SW is the "LAUNCH CUSTOMER" how-ever he is going to be number "N" really flying it and N is going to be for sure higher than "1"

Yes, but the test frames require refurbishment and won't be delivered first. Of course, SW is the launch operator customer, not the launch operator.

Well it is just words - the really launch ONE is the ONE who operates the plane first not the one who takes/or does not take - the delivery first and than have the plane on the tarmac or in the hangar..... They just want to be the ONE without really being the ONE. We have to wait and see who will have first passengers in it !

They just want to be the ONE without really being the ONE. I am afraid this is NOT true. I know you are probably joking, but there is no airline more committed to the 737 than SW. The airline however is not allowed by the FAA to introduce the MAX into its fleet before all the 737 'classic' have been retired.

Launch customer means the first customer to order the type not the first to operate it Right !!! - so QR is the launch customer for both the A320neo and A321neo It is all semantics.... ONLY. For instance in real life the launch customer for A320neo is Lufthansa - they got the first plane and they were the first one to place some passengers into it ! Not QR who placed the first order. How many A320neos does this LAUNCH customer operate in a moment where almost HUNDRED planes are in the air ? We all know the answer well ZERO ! I understand that SW is committed to the plane - but life brought into action the unions and FAA so they are not going to be the first one to operate it - nothing can be done about it.

Being the launch customer has nothing to do with aircraft operation. It's all about being first to order, allowing the manufacturer to launch the programme (remember : the A330neo was mostly launched by lessors). Launch customer(s) take a financial risk years ahead of the launch operator.

With A350 and B788 they seem to be the same. Does someone remember how it was with other models ?
