Given the program is not even officially launch yet, I'm surprise they expressed interests already I think it's because they need to replace their 767, and there is no perfect replacement on offer (the A339 is too large, the A338 has too much range and may be seen as inadequate).

I hope that DL instead order of 797, will exercise option for 100 a321 neo. Of course, the A321neo is a perfect 757 replacement. The reason DL is interested in the 797, however, is 767 replacement. An A321neo can do that only in rare cases.

Haha. I feel like this is Delta saying to Boeing, "Look, we will support your NMA programme...just end your assault on our CSeries aircraft."
