Damn. Sad to see the aircraft scrapped as a result of not being taken up and subsequent neglect of proper storage. Well, these are not what I understand to be the reasons for scrapping these test aircraft (or FTV in BBD parlance). I think the cost to bring them to a standard acceptable by a customer would just be too high. The same happened to A380 and 787 test aircraft, some of them however going to a museum. That would be a better fate for these ex-CSeries ...

You are right, I misread the information on that blog, these are the first production aircraft.
I nevertheless believe that the reason they are scrapped has nothing to do with a long and supposedly improper storage. After all, Boeing's 787 'terrible teens' have sat for years before being reworked on, and then delivered to customers. Certainly, these 'early birds' would require very costly modifications before delivery to a customer. If that was not the case, they could be sold at a discount.

. . . . supposedly improper storage. That's a bit of an understatement. Link is to a picture of Msn50007: goo.gl/images/3FzwuZ

Link is to a picture of Msn50007: goo.gl/images/3FzwuZNo engines and no fuel in the tanks means the Horizontal Tailplain collects snow and it tips onto its tail ! I have a similar picture of a Canberra below ! I checked with the owner who said the best way to fix it was doing nothing, when it warms up and the snow melts away the Canberra very slowly tips forwards again !

I checked with the owner who said the best way to fix it was doing nothing, . . . . The CSeries is apparently a different story, the cranes were called in because Bombardier technicians were afraid the fuselage would crack

It's the same as my Canberra thing, the snow on the HTPs changed the CofG. When aircraft in Canada get covered in snow do they always bring out cranes to support them
