Apparently it's from GECAS! Good to see the order! When I read into that, I saw it as another nail in the Boeing NMA coffin. Airbus markets the A330neo and A321 XLR to cover that segment. When GE buys into it, I see it as reason enough that they are unlikely to proceed with the NMA. You wouldn't otherwise want to buy up competitor aircraft when your own proposed aircraft business case requires every last sale to be guaranteed viable.

I think we have to look at the relationship of GECAS and General Electric Aircraft Engines or GEAE a little bit different. Both divisions are owned by GE of course, but after GE did fall on bad times the single divisions got the marching order to make money by themselves without relying on being subsidized by another division. There are speculation that GE will sell off some division to get the cash and/or equity situation under control. So I think that we just see GECAS looking for good deals to be profitable. Not GE is doing this deal, but GECAS in its own name.

DUBAI: Emirates lifts A350 orders but cuts out A330neo 18 November, 2019 SOURCE: FlightGlobal.com BY: David Kaminski-Morrow www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/dubai-emirates-lifts-a350-orders-but-cuts-out-a330n-462348/ Middle Eastern carrier Emirates appears to have revised its Airbus long-haul order, committing to 50 Airbus A350s – up from the previous 30 – but not mentioning the earlier A330neo agreement...Emirates had tentatively opted for 30 A350-900s and 40 A330-900s earlier this year in a rejig of its long-haul strategy as Airbus cancelled its A380 programme, for which Emirates had been the primary customer. But the revision unveiled at the Dubai air show makes no mention of the 40 A330neos. Emirates says the new purchase deal "replaces" its previous declaration of intent.
Of course I'm anticipating eagerly the first member contribution of the possible reach route maps from Dubai for each of the 900, LR and XLR models!
