D-AIMB already received the wing fix.
MSN041 is now four years old meaning she's due for a heavy maintenance check, and I assume the new cabin will be installed too.

I don't think that LHT HAM has all the gear and tools for a D-check heavy maintenance check. LHT FRA is fit enough and has the capacity too.

I don't really see why they are doing it in HAM tbh. I think they even built an extra A380 hangar in MUC, so why do it in HAM? The base of LHT is in HAM, but that is not reason enough for me to do it. Must have been quite a big investment...

Maybe LHT FRA and MUC are already busy?... Fabien

Just read on AviCom it is only for cabin upgrade. That is a long time.. As it is the first aircraft to be re-configured it takes a lot of extra time. Although I agree it is a rather long grounding

It is a long time indeed. A380 cabin reconfigurations are very expensive, especially on the older birds. That's why Airbus will pay for any reconfiguration on the Doric A380s.

I don't think Airbus agreed to foot the whole bill. They agreed to cap reconfiguration costs, paying only extra costs.
