I shared my views on the situation in the 'Etihad A350s' thread. a380.boards.net/thread/1931/etihad-a350s?page=8The terms being used by EY may be misleading. Saying that the airline has committed to taking delivery of 6 777X (in a certain time span) doesn't mean that the other frames are being cancelled. Their situation may still be undecided ... It's a common negociation technique to sign a limited short-term agreement, leaving out some difficult issues. I would bet that Boeing is willing to postpone 777X deliveries, not to let EY of the hook. I would expect the same from Airbus.

So, EY still has 25 777X on order. Does this mean that the situation is clear ? I would not go so far ... No order has been cancelled, but no delivery schedule has been agreed upon.
Whether or not all aircraft on order will eventually be delivered to EY remains to be seen, in my opinion.

So, we were wrong to pay attention to a misinformed tweet. EY only has 6 779s on order, whereas Boeing's order book shows 25 ... This means that a serious disagreement persists ! We'll eventually see the outcome, but probably in a distant future only.

Maybe EK will take eleven 777-9's originally for EY. That would leave EY with above mentioned 6 out of 17. EK has 115 777-9's or order, combined with Etihads eleven that would be 126! And then: Cancelling 19 (EY) and 24 (EK) makes -/- 43. And that is the exact number of 777-8's the combined airlines officially have on order. But like I said, just wondering . . .

We can compare Delta's and Aeroflot's 787 orders, how long it took them to leave the books. Or that we all new that we would see the removal of 39 A380 frames from Airbus books, but the deal between Airbus and Emirates "how to" took a while. For me the 19 777X orders are gone, just the books do not know it yet.

Boeing PR seems to still suggests EK still has 778 on order (see my EK's 777X post)
