Didn't it raise the gear at all? Boeing has been sort of "shy" about inflight pictures until now. Possibly they don't retract the gear during first flights but Airbus does. We don't know what they were testing. Same as Airbus. We can't really compare anything. All we know is that its standard to have it lowered at the beginning when your first testing out the flight envelope in case of hydraulic failure and/or emergency.

I totally pointed this out after it landed on Saturday. I'm used to seeing at Airbus that they have at least a jumpsuit on etc on maiden Flights of a new Aircraft Type. Obviously I don't know the specifics in this case, but yeah I agree, a bit strange for sure.

Only as information, Test-Registration is N779XW (already reported in Boeing 777X - General Discussion). Maybe someone want to watch flightradar24 for the next test flights

Actually for the first two flights. The 787 first flight was handled in a similar way. On the other hand they accepted marginal weather back then that Airbus hadn't taken off with I'd guess.

Is this a special amercian hero philosophy? There were no escape hatches and parachutes, but they are limiting the people on board.
