Story Reuters on inspections. This story includes information that a 'sub-surface fatigue crack' was found on the part retrieved from the Greenland ice field. Its not clear how the two latest AD's (issued by the FAA and adopted by EASA) cover this issue ot that there is new information.

So, a sub-surface fatigue crack was detected in the titanium alloy fan hub. Such defects are very difficult to detect, and it's not entirely surprising that this one was missed by maintenance. Inspections will tell us whether the problem is a one-off, or not ...
