Today with the delivery of the last frame MSN120, this is the first airline to see its order completed with no new (A380) order yet. Of those 5 frames MSN031 MSN036 MSN054 MSN088 and MSN120, MSN088 was the fastest to roll out in TLS with 14 weeks and MSN054 was the longest with 22 weeks, MSN031 was the shortest to be outfitted with 15 weeks and MSN036 was the longest with 22 weeks, MSN120 was the fastest to conduct flight testings with just 6 weeks between XFW-roll out and delivery and MSN031 was the longest with 17 weeks, and overall MSN120 was the fastest frame with overall 41 weeks between convoy and delivery, and MSN031 was the slowest with 58 weeks. From Fabien's link, the chairman also stated that "load factor on China Southern’s five A380 operations are averaging around 80%".
Part of the problem must indeed be the price level required to achieve that load factor.
Altogether, things seem to be getting better, not worse. Rather comforting news from a notoriously struggling A380 operator.

centreforaviation.com/analysis/china-southern-airlines-now-with-600-aircraft-has-a-weak-1h2014-and-faces-new-challenges-184932Some news about China Southern A380 operations... "Existing long-haul routes remain largely loss-making, although the losses are narrowing. The Guangzhou-Los Angeles A380 route has been unprofitable, which China Southern attributes to a lack of premium traffic and operating restrictions on the west-bound sector, but Los Angeles was profitable in Aug-2014, the peak operating month. Management acknowledges its A380 network is sub-par, owing to its inability to secure rights out of Beijing. China Southern may thus be looking to operate long-haul flights out of Shanghai."

If LAX doesn't work for the 380, why not try LHR? Airlines like MH BA had reported recentley in the news that they are happy with there 380's as they get good passenger load. Same goes for Singapore. As I work SQ, during the last 2 moths they have been oversold!
Not sure about QF? And EK, let's not start. They are always full even in quite seasons..
I know CZ operate the 788 to Heathrow and as far I'm aware of it they are too oversold. But who knows the 380 leg from CAN-LHR-CAN could work?
Good luck to CZ..

If LAX doesn't work for the 380, why not try LHR? The problem isn't LAX, but CAN, so a CAN-LHR route will most likely only shift the problem
