Reminds me of my first spotting days in the late 70s, state controlled airlines, we will be back to TU134s / TU154s and IL62s very soon, at least we would get to see smokey take offs again !! And the noise too !!

Russian newspaper Izvestia reports on September 6 it is highly unlikely Aeroflot will take up the Transaero A380's if the take over will happen. It quotes analysts who say the problem of Transaero is it has overcapacity and should drastically reduce it's fleet.

It is very sad. It was clear earlier that Aeroflot had no interest at all in taking over the A380 and 747-8i-orders, but that Transaero is about to go bankrupt is a massive blow. Again that must be the logical effect of all things that have happened since the Ukraine and MH-17 crisis and the effect it has had on the Russian economy. I wonder when Airbus will officially confirm the Transaero order is off. With reports saying Emirates is not in for more orders at the Dubai Air Show, I wonder where John Leahy still believes he can sell A380's this year, as he said in Paris.

If the debt was a concern, the issue is going away, the lenders being set to lose most of their investment. So, bankruptcy may actually help to engineer a takeover deal.
