update01/03/2014 Current A380-destinations served by MAS from KUL (KUL not included): 1 LHR- Fabien ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MAS will start a daily KUL-HKG A380 route on 1st May this year, but I am not sure if it can be served just by the 5 aircraft serving already the both daily LHR and CDG?..... Fabien This is from November last year: "MAS still has to decide on a market for its sixth and final A380 but unless there is a large change in the bilateral and market conditions, the aircraft will not be deployed to Australia. Mr Dunleavy said the carrier will receive its sixth and final A380 in 2Q2013 but MAS will only operate a fleet of five A380s for an extended period as the entire fleet will have to be returned to Airbus for wing repairs. He says MAS has over one year to decide on a deployment for the A380." centreforaviation.com/analysis/malaysia-airlines-and-thai-airways-focus-on-europe-rather-than-australia-with-a380s-88384

I agree XWB! However also airlineroute.net/2013/01/31/mh-hkg-may13/It seems to me though that only MSN084 has had its Wings investigated(repaired?).........(?)........that's why I'm wondering if the route to HKG could be sustained with just the 5 frames?...... Fabien

Seems like they have found a route for their 6th frame. In that case they might wait until the final wing fix becomes available.

That's unbelievable, even if it is a daily A380 flight replacing a double daily A 337 flight ! If it is true, it is weird indeed, in terms of both capacity increase and fleet management policy.

its a logical sense deploying a380 to hong kong and possibly beijing as Malaysia had a strong tourism tie up with China...
