Manufacturers cannot help overpromising to sell new aircraft. When these do get built, they are said to be 'overweight' when they actually are at the weight that should have been promised in the first place.

I do believe that BO is more prone to this sin than AB - at least it seems like that looking at 787x350 story.
I have seen the article on Leeham ( and thought that it is not worth the link) earlier but unfortunately there does not work the google trick so I doubt here is someone here who really read it.
