Tim Clark had previously made it no secret that he wants a fleet of 120 A380s eventually.

The skies are already crowded with emirates 380's and they only have 30+ yet in use. It really is the Emirates A380! I remember Hong Kong Airlines saying "but which airline can afford to buy 10 A380's at once, these days", when they canceled orders. Well, there is your answer

agree but if Emirates will order another 30 while they have 60 more in order, I think they are confident they will fill them otherwise they will wait to see how they are doing when they have 60+ for example

Well, I've read in several news that they already reduced their order to five, but even want to switch those to A330/A350's. The authorities also have forbidden a fleet expansion. As much as I would love to, but I don't see them becoming an A380 airline anymore.

I just checked Airbus's latest orders sheet (30 April, 2013), it still appears as a firm order. Not cancelled yet. Even though the company last year mentioned a possible cancellation, I would not expect a rush to decision. Firstly, we must remember that cancellation was mentioned only at the peak of the EU - China ETS dispute, which may have been a factor at the time. Secondly, the company was forced by authorities to slow its expansion until it improves its operations (there were some serious reliability/security concerns). It is now restricted to regional flights. This however is a temporary step, and we do not know longer term prospects. I do not see a quick cancellation, as this would require an agreement with Airbus to change the order in favour of a different widebody type, and even that is probably impossible for the moment. I would expect an indefinite postponement, until the company knows more about its future operations. The airline might for instance be merged into a bigger player, and the order would then change hands ... Or it might be allowed to grow after consolidation, with a new fleet plan.
