I expect all frames convoyed after MSN137 to have the new wings and no need for repairs.

The original question stands: Can wing repair be accomplished before final assembly? We had a long discussion about wings before. The wings are manufactured in Filton and Broughton, going from Broughton by barge to Mostyn and from there by ship to France. There seem not to be a storage facility for many pairs of wings either in Broughton nor in Mostyn, so if a convoy is assembled the next pair of wings goes. When the ship bringing the wings stranded before Mostyn there was an immediate delay of convoyed wings. The wings going with MSN117 when that frame is convoyed will be a pair of wings to the new standard no need for repairs.

I missed the "long discussion about wings". Thanks for explaining

That's what came out from the 'long discussion' about the wings. My point of view is still the same and differs, I guess peter and I have the same point of view, and it is (at least partially?) supported by what I was told during my FAL visit in December 2009, items are built and 1 and only 1 MSN. Hence wings and any other parts are built PER MSN, my point of view is that wings of frames delayed are put aside, "the same way fuselage parts are put aside". ( mjoelnir idea is supported by the fact apparently that we have never seen any picture of 'wings on the side waiting to be convoyed' or 'side waiting rooms', though nobody has ever showed any picture of any of the fuselage frames waiting for convoy (MSN31, MSN117) but they were effectively waiting somewhere..........). =>We had evidence in the past of MSN031 forward fuselage being stored for a long time, and we have right now as well the evidence of parts of MSN117 being stored. My idea is that in any factory some pieces/items can be put aside temporarily, waiting for the MSN to be convoyed. To me, wings of MSN117 (that was most likely built before MSN137) will still need to be repaired, and I find peter's question pertinent, this might be worth asking if the wings can be repaired previously to assembly. We might have some answers when we see how long MSN117 is going to take in Toulouse or Hamburg, if it still has its wings repaired in side hangars. And for that, we will have MSN117 to be (finally?...) convoyed............. Fabien

Somebody, I have not his post in the moment, indicated that there was no wing storage in Broughton. The other point is, why should wings be produced for a certain MSN and than stored? I understand the fuselage, they are customized according to customer, there is no customizing regarding the wings. Do they also store MLGs, engines, pylons and so on? Why did the change in wing production cut frame production in 2013 down to 25 frames if wings are stored? But the main point still remains, where do they store them?
