That wording is a bit deceptive ! Nothing to do with engine type, it's just that the existing 787 backlog does not extend much before 2022 - at scheduled production rates, it would be depleted, and absent new orders production would stop.

From 2022 no trent ten 787 deliveries in schedule It is not that there are that many GEnx in the delivery schedule either

Looks like 787 deferred production cost is getting headwind again
for 1Q18 the deferred production cost was reduced by 25358-24690 = 668 M in the mean time, 34 787s were delivered -> 19.6M reduction per frame
for 2Q18 the deferred production cost was reduced by 24690-24241 = 449M 38 787s were devliered -> 11.8M reduction per frame
40 % differences in reduction per frame
Not exactly sure whether this has something to do with the aggressive pricing
