And the paint manager confirms that FTV1 will not have a full livery during its first flight. Why would they do first flight and then come back to paint it later? After watching the video, I'm thinking it may be because their paint hangar is not ready to do the full paint work on the new type and that they might as well get through first flight on time.

And the paint manager confirms that FTV1 will not have a full livery during its first flight. I did not get this info, I understand in both English and French that the aircraft today is being 'protected' against UVs (the day the footage was made I guess) but not painted, but the gentleman doesn't state that the plane is not going to be unpainted during First Flight?... My guess is that on that day it is (was) protected against UVs and that thereafter it may or may not be painted?... I hope it will though hehe,... Fabien

but the gentleman doesn't state that the plane is not going to be unpainted during First Flight?... In the above picture, you see the titles, flag and door frame outlines on the bare fuselage. I don't think they're going to paint over them anytime soon. And specifically, those red emergency cut-away points strongly suggest that the aircraft is going to be put through some serious tests by the flight team.

Bombardier has done this in the past, they fly in primer and paint it later together with an official unveiling ceremony.
