What is Airbus testing especially on a longish flight? It would make sense if Airbus were trialling new features that could be retro-fitted on the existing fleet to improve performance. With the winding down of A380 production it would be natural to assume that this aircraft would be spending more and more time on the ground or at best performing short flights to keep the systems working.

What is Airbus testing especially on a longish flight? That's an excellent question. I doubt we'll have an answer, though. As Airbus remains committed to after-sales support, it could be a fix to any recently identified problem.
