I found this on the Skyscraper City forum's thread concerning all things Indonesian (post #1549). Apparently, Garuda is joining Skyteam on Wednesday of next week (05 March).

This will be a major milestone for Airbus. They have been working on this (these) order(s) for over a year now ! It could also be a turning point for the A330 program : I suspect the deal(s) had to be closed before Airbus could officially show interest in a possible A330 NEO.

Japan could really use some more Airbuses. I was shocked to hear that Airbus delivered it's 100th aircraft to Japan only last year.
