Not far from Mexico, since the aircraft is optimised for short haul.

Not far from Mexico, since the aircraft is optimised for short haul. The official range for fully loaded SR Superjet is 3048 km. This includes the required reserves. See: www.gcmap.com/mapui?R=3048km%40MEX&MS=wls2&DU=miIt does not include foul winds, so San Francisco, Minneapolis, Detroit or Washington would actually be marginal.

I remember the engine being optimised for a shorter range than the airframe. I read that performance would take a serious hit beyond 1000 NM, but I am not sure of the source.

Lao Central's first and only SSJ100 is withdrawn from use at Vientiane. As stated earlier, they don't want them anymore. Aeroflot's former RA-89003 is ready to be re-delivered to Ministry of Domestic Affairs: RF-89151.

Both airfleets and planespotters heve it still with them. They have only other two 737-400 both 25 years old....

The first ten aircraft for Aeroflot are what Sukhoi calls the "light" specification. It was always the intention to trade them for the "full" specification. This will be accomplished in the first half of this year ( link). I doubt the Lao order has anything to do with this, they took the first one, put it into service and shortly after the next two were reported to go to Grozny Avia. According to reports RDPL-34195 has been stored since Dec 24.
