Mybe the reason is not the funding but lack of routes. As far as I remember so far they did not get the planned slots in London or New York and so the business case does not fly. I hope they do well with the A330s and come back later for the A380s.

Airbus wrongly trust in a customer does not have the natural profile of an operator of the A380 and see what happens. Now all production became a mess. I think Transaero could take 2 units already built or maybe Emirates as a gift for saving the A380 program.

Hopefully the two assembled BC A380s doesn't end up like another MSN002s....

The thing is would Transaero want to take 2 jets about a year earlier than planned and more to the point are they ready for them. Will this issue with BC place a question mark over Transaero's order as well. Time will tell on this one.

Maybe Lapidius managed to get the two already built at a low price, hence being able to sign up his first customer ( Amedeo (Doric) A380s ). Aircraft built, unwanted, give-away price, brand-new.... What more could Amedeo ask for

What more could Amedeo ask for A lessee ? THAT is exactly what Lapidius was hinting at (in the other thread): Two aircraft already built, no doubt the third in "Parts Built", if a customer wants them fast, they can get them fast

I came across the MSN162 thread first, and posted my reservations there, although it would be more appropriate here. This matter does not only concern the one frame, but the entire Skymark order after all. My apologies! Some new developments: I just found on the Skymark website a press release dated 29 July, concerning the introduction of A380s: www.skymark.co.jp/ja/company/press/140729_press.pdfIt is Japanese only, though. The bottom line seems to be this: - Skymark is recently struggling financially, and is therefore in discussions with Airbus about modifications to the A380 order - Since the penalty for full cancellation at this stage is exorbitant, this does not seem to be an option for Skymark - It seems to have been requested (by Airbus?) that Skymark take and operate the A380 "under the umbrella of a major airline" - which also seems to be problematic for Skymark - The introduction of A380s for Skymark is still an "important matter" - Negotiations with Airbus are ongoing I hope they can find a way!

Skymark A380s. We hardly knew you.
Though I wonder if they can exercise options for some 330 enhanced or 330neos. Much safer option long haul imo.
