Thanks for your report digitalairliners!! Was the picture of the LH frame taken from outside, on the right side of the FAL (tour side), or on the left side of the FAL?... If on the right, it should be MSN146(30A), if on the left it should be MSN149(FALstage1). .... Fabien Hi Fabien, Photo was taken on the right hand side as you describe it so yes Poste 30A I'm now a bit confused as to what was in Body join on Sunday morning (1st Sept)as I saw the following log on Civil Spotters today (credit Leslie Smith) I had assumed that I saw msn 150. [C-S] LOG : Toulouse 5/6 Sept .... A.380 001 F-WWOW Prototype, Airbus Colours 002 F-WXXL ex order for Prince Al Walid, Stored A380 ramp 004 F-WWDD Prototype, Airbus Greener Colours, A380 hangar 121 F-WWAY / (G-XLEB) British Airways, fcs. A380 ramp, LEB on tail 127 F-WWAZ / (A6-EEJ) Emirates, fcs, Delivery center, EEJ on nose wheel 128 F-WWAB / (HL7622) Korean Airlines, fcs, A380 ramp 137 F-WWST / (A7-AKA) Qatar Airways, tail painted, A.380 ramp 142 F-WWAH / (A6-EET) Emirates, tail painted, in a A380 ramp hangar 143 F-WWAJ / (A7-AKB) Qatar Airways, tail painted, in assembly hall 145 F-WWAL / (A7-AKC) Qatar Airways, tail painted, in assembly hall 146 F-WWAO / (D-AIMK) Lufthansa, tail painted, in assembly hall, MK on tail 148 F-WWAS / (G-XLEE) British Airways, tail painted, in assembly hall, LEE on tail 149 F-WWSX / (D-AIML) Lufthansa, tail painted, in body join, ML on tail 152 F-WWAP Asiana, all parts outside (except tail), arrived by convoy overnight .... From my experience the photo from A80_TLS_A350 today looks like it is coming out of "body join" as you can see the concrete wall separating the 3 posts you can see on the tour from the body join hanger. As they point out on the tour the wall is there for insurance/fire purposes. Change of station msn149 6/9/2013 by A380_TLS_A350There is no mention of msn 150 in the log and 152 is there waiting to go in. Any thoughts? Leo

MSN150 must have been in this hangar (I don't exactly know what this building is) before MSN149 finished body join:

I think either the Body Join is empty with MSN150 going to go inside very very soon, or it is already there. There is no chance that MSN152 could overtake MSN150... I think this hangar is the bay opposite the Body Join. On this picture that was MSN149 waiting for Body Join, so now that MSN149 left the Body Join MSN150 must have entered it, and MSN152 still outside should enter this bay (opposite the Body Join). MSN150 must have been in this hangar (I don't exactly know what this building is) before MSN149 finished body join: Very interesting photo XWB, I'd not seen that one before. It certainly makes sense that there is a staging area next to the body join area. That would seem to indicate that now with a higher convoy rate that the frame is body join is the previous convoy. i.e. 150 will be going into body join now as 152 comes into the staging area. As for where the staging area is I think it is a large area next to the bodyjoin area. "Section 18/19": A380-841 MSN 0070 [F-WWSG] LH by A380spotter, on Flickr So there is plenty of space inside for the body join rig and another A380 MSN093 and unknown A380 for Emirates by DigitalAirliners.com, on Flickr but to the right is the lower grey structure which can be the staging area in your photo. Will try and document this better in the future ;-)

From A80_TLS_A350's pictures we know that body join usually starts 1 to 1.5 weeks after the arrival of the convoy. So there must be a staging area because those parts are not stored outside.
Airbus can prepare the body join in this area, like removing all the tape from the windows and perform a quality control.

I think you're right. I also found these 2 videos where we can see the parts moving from the staging area to the body join. What the second body join hangar concerns, I believes Airbus currently uses it for the wing modification.

About this "wall", I remember it was the first thing built, looked like the monolith in space odyssey, alone in a no man's land. Maybe I've got a picture, not sure.
