Ju-Air from Switzerland has started to rebuild the first of their three left Junkers Ju 52. They get new built wings and new Wasp engines instead of their old BMWs.
Wonder how much of a swiss recertification, flight test and such that might mean?

I cannot believe they intend to fly passengers again in a JU 52, as if the recent crash hadn't happened !

I cannot believe they intend to fly passengers again in a JU 52, as if the recent crash hadn't happened ! Why would airlines intend to fly A320/330, 737/747/757/767/777 with passengers, just a selection of some more types involved in (recent) crashes.. .. .. Even the DC-3 still carries passengers and they went down 7 times as many as the Ju-52...

The civilian Ju 52 was offered with a wide variety of engines according to the wishes of the owner. The first prototype of the Ju 52/3m was powered by the Wasp.

Lufthansa's Ju 52 was powered by Wasps as well. However the Swiss seem to use a slightly less powerful version now. Wonder how this will work over the mountains?
