What legal reasons could possibly prevent Airbus to built any nmber they want / need ?? Maybe up to a number of 5 it is a kind of prototype/experimental aircraft, with lower requirements for certification, wheras from 6 aircraft and more from a specific type, it might be considered a kind of series production, which needs more paperwork, extra testing etc. I really do not think Airbus would be hampered with that. Just add a few more designations and you're fine. The whole of the EU works like that

I have read somewhere that to go over 5 pcs the cost of certification is not far from 1 bil.USD
Looking at the A350 campaign this huge number seems to make sense.

The new Beluga will be basically A A330-200, we already know, shouldt be bigger (ca.1m in diameter) and longer (about 6m)than the old one and its transportation capacity will be higher from 47 up to 53 tons. I hope the new transporter looks crazy enough and needs a new name. I suggest "Orca". Is a more aggressiv name vis-a-vis its competitors. After the Belugas comes the Orcas...

It's still going to look like the present beluga except that the cargo hold is expanded a bit. And it makes sense: "A Beluga-style lowered cockpit will remain a distinctive visual characteristic of the new aircraft, which will make “extensive” use of A330 components and equipment." - Flightglobal I just want to add, the current loading/unloading systems have to be compatible with the new design as well. The article above also has some interesting bits on the solutions Airbus worked on for transporting A380 parts. Could you imagine what that would look like? The wings just sitting on top of an A340. Maybe they can generate some extra lift too.

As discussed elsewhere - my bet - she is going to have the new engines. They do not need so big a certification, so why not ?

As the designation in -743, and not 841/941 as the other, it does suggest it will get the same engine as in 330-243/343(E) and not be a NEO, but have the Trent 772B-60/772C-60
