It is possible that when the XLs come into service that an old standard Beluga might get shipped off to Canada to move A220 parts down to Mobile, rather than roading them ? Transport by rail, if possible, would be the cheapest solution. I stand to be corrected,when the initial frame was being shipped, I thought I saw something stating there is no direct rail service into Mobile from Montreal. I may be wrong though...

I would far prefer if I was AB to be in complete control of my expensive aircraft parts heading to the Mobile FAL and not have to rely on third parties to do the road or rail shipping !

I think we had this discussion before. Obviously that would be the most ideal situation, but even IF that happens, I don't see that happening until at least 2025 when all BelugaXL's are in operation.

Airbus has an extensive experience of dealing with contractors. I'm sure the company would get a first class dedicated shipping service, as Boeing does with 737 fuselages. As regards Belugas, there are too many unknowns. I have no idea how they would perform.
