Wow...close call! A relieving outcome. Very reminiscent of their A340-300 landing some years ago. Thankfully the other three MLGs were locked in place to keep the aircraft steady and level.

It is surprising it is worthwhile to do such a thing.. Fuel costs have gone down, and they have all the spares from the ones that they have retiered, so it's cheaper than buying more new airframes ?

Are we talking about a passenger aircraft or a freighter ? The former would be more surprising.

It makes sense + they have all the personal so better to let them do something then to let them lay down.
