Then if true (!), the 'replacements of QA1' to Frankfurt can't have been due to dispatch problems with 99.85% quoted. So what were they due to? Dispatch reliability is a tricky metric, intended to measure the reliability of a schedule, not that of an aircraft type. If the airline has to use a substitute aircraft, but departure still happens less than 15 minutes late, dispatch reliability doesn't take a hit. That explains how such high scores are possible, but the numbers can be deceptive.

Thanks Philidor but surely Qatar's boss was referring to the A350 not a schedule which can be filled with any plane? Frankly the definition of dispatch reliability for a slot would be a very misleading metric to use if really an A350 issue was being discussed. It's rather like Finnair saying their A350 reliability is 100% on all planned routes - isn't it?!

So the Double dayly service start tomorrow Or will she just perform the currently flight instead of MSN6? QR booking system still shows starting on sunday with 2 A350. Friday and saturday are still an A330 and an A350. For Saturday March 7, A330-300 is announced on QR069/70. www.flederwiesel.com/fra-schedule/Ralf

It's rather like Finnair saying their A350 reliability is 100% on all planned routes - isn't it?! Yes, it is intentionally misleading, but the trick has been used in the past, at least for 787s. I remember that UA had two standby 787s at hand when they performed their first official 787 commercial flight. Likewise, NH boasted excellent early 787 dispatch reliability numbers, when actually standby aircraft had been used. It's all about the fact that the figures tell us nothing about the resources that were used to achieve them.

Ali BaBa needs to worry more about seat suppliers, carpets and money (gas prices are low). One A380 stored with no engines (they cost money up front !) and one not built (4 more engines not paid for) that should have been, 3 A350s not painted, why because they are not going to be delivered soon, not needed or can't be paid for? Are they hiding behind being fussy
