Thanks so much Kevin for pointing me towards an unknown but so informative area of the Airbus site! Well Airbus site is a muddy area without any logic and a possibility that navigating through the menus will bring you to finding the required article is not far from impossible. I think it is one of the most muddy sites around. While clicking through it I always wonder if it is the idiocy of the creator/creators or by purpose. I can not believe the first one and see no reason for the other one.

A350-1000 certified to 480 seats (page 23) In my opinion A350-1000 will be ideal replacement for 17 Cathay Pacific 777-300 (aircraft with 2-class configuration for 438 seats).

29 November, 2019 SOURCE: FlightGlobal.com BY: David Kaminski-Morrow London www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/a350-1000-maximum-seating-rises-to-480-462615/Airbus's A350-1000 has been cleared for an increase in maximum accommodation to 480 seats, through the installation of modified exits. The twinjet had previously been approved for up to 440...EASA states that the minimum number of cabin crew required increases to nine if the maximum seating exceeds 400, adding that a third cabin crew member must be stationed at each installed pair of Type-A+ exits. These modified exits have also been used by Airbus to raise the maximum accommodation of the A330-900 to 460 seats. Increasing the seat-count of the A350-1000 will potentially enhance its competitiveness against the rival Boeing 777X.

Good news for Air Caraïbes and the like ... Is the 10-abreast version becoming increasingly popular ?

Oh, despite the larger engines? Mind you, as you can surmise, I know little of the technicalities!

Oh, despite the larger engines? Mind you, as you can surmise, I know little of the technicalities! Yes, it's the wings that hold the aeroplane up, and they are same size on a -900 and a -1000 so the extra weight of the -1000 is important.
