Being a bit of a conspiracy theorist, I'll opine that someone at Boeing read the rumor. Then a phone call got placed to Senator Patricia Murray, D-Boeing. Then a phone call gets made to United... See where I'm going?

According to BBC, an SQ spokesman said the door was checked by technicians at Heathrow without finding anything. Because it's this particular aircraft, I expect we're going to hearing quite a bit about it.

Isn't there some sort of ceremony planned for the handover (like all the rest of the operators receiving their first A380)?

Yippee! As someone whose nearest major airport is SFO, I'm glad to know that I'll have more chances to see the A380. Thanks for pointing it out! I was checking a380flights.net and was dying inside thinking it wasn't returning. I guess the FRA-SFO A380 service will be seasonal.
