Actually, I think the reference in that article to 2016 is relating to the new order that has just been firmed. For their existing orders, their delivery starts a little earlier, yes?
The updated firing order after the cut in production is listed as the following:
Updated Firing order from L/N1500 :
L/N 1500 - 747-830, RC035, serial number 37840, D-ABYP, Lufthansa #14, scheduled delivery * August 31 2014. L/N 1501 - 747-8xxF**, RC671, Silk Way Airlines #1 ?, Boeing operator code : 662 L/N 1502 - 747-8xxF**, RC672, Silk Way Airlines #2 ?, Boeing operator code : 662 L/N 1503 - 747-830, RC036, serial number 37841, D-ABYQ, Lufthansa #15 L/N 1504 not yet allocated L/N 1505 not yet allocated L/N 1506 - 747-8B5, RC051, KAL intercontinental #1.
That has to put their first 747-8I firmly into the late 2014/early 2015 time-frame, right?
Whatever the case, glad to see the order firmed up. Hopefully there will be some more interesting news coming up! :-)

Korean Air 747-8i in storage: What's the story behind this? I believe it is just short term, with delivery planned for either late this year or early next.

I believe it is just short term, with delivery planned for either late this year or early next. Has Korean pushed back delivery schedules or has Boeing been filling FAL slots to keep up with the current production rate?

Shocking to see another airliner in storage...On Bloomberg I read it will be 2015 for Korean... I guess Boeing is producing what they have in the book ignoring delivery dates and when they are done they will stop production ... I don't see where they could see many of them at the moment with the 777X coming up...
