Do we know which of the test frames ( MSN1-5 ) will go to airlines and when ? Geoff We don't know for sure, except that MSN 5 (a block 2 aircraft) will certainly be delivered soon, whereas other test frames (block 1 aircraft) could be delivered as well, after extensive rework. Airbus might elect to keep one or two frames, but that's still unclear.

So 15 deliveries and 4 HoVs in the A350's first 12 months of service.
For comparison, the 787 had 25 deliveries and 6 HoVs in the first 12 months.

Let's hope the 350 will not have the problems 787 had in second year. AB is always way more conservative than BO.

Boeing built up a huge backlog of assembled frames and were desperate to get them delivered. This proved very expensive. Airbus being cautious will hopefully avoid those problems. Clearly they could deliver many more than 15 this year but with the risk of having to 'recall' them if major problems occur. Geoff

I am happy we are now saying exactly the same in different words

If Airbus just clears up all block 2 inventory (MSN numbers < 21) in 2015, and also successfully introduces to market block 3 aircraft (MSN numbers > 20), then 2015 will be a good year. To me, success is if block 3 is at weight and proves reliable in airline operation.
In 2016 and 2017 deliveries should rise steeply.
