Not bad but a blow to the bulkier NH90 it seems. Not really, in my opinion. Light helicopters perform different tasks for different users.

In Germany the NH-90 had been marketed as something like a UH-1D follow-on somehow. Now people need to enter and leave through the backdoor whenever submachine guns are installed within the tiny side doors.

I think you mean crew operated machine guns being installed rather than submachine guns. Miniguns are actually rather big machine guns, with high sustained fire of 2000 to 6000 rounds a minute, using the fullzied cartridge 7,62x51, electric drive, rotary barrels and belt fed.
The NH-90 was designed according to the specification of the relevant military authorities. So I would look rather at those specifications to find the reason for space and door problems. Looking at the side doors I would call them hardly tiny. You must be a very big person not being able to squeeze past the miniguns. There is a picture on the Wikipedia with the minigun installed.
Perhaps it is just more comfortable to use the backdoor.
