Entry into service of msn 1949 (N405DX) only in 18 mar 2020 (nearly 3 weeks induction into service in NRT). We can rectify the following statement from the AviationToulouse tweet above : "This A330Neo for Delta Airlines is on delivery flight to Tokyo Narita to avoid American import taxes". Delta may intend to delay payment of import duties by delaying importation of the aircraft, not avoid them altogether since they will be due at importation. |

Perhaps those people at Delta know something about the tarifs, like there will be talks about them, as the time when the WTO could allow the EU to put tariffs on Boeing products is getting nearer. I doubt anybody can have some clarity before WTO's final decision. Wouldn't Airbus and Delta delay delivery if there were realistic hopes of a quick negociation ? |
