After today's delivery flight Delta has still backlog of 13 a330-900neo. In FAA registry Delta reserved more registrations than its actual backlog of 13 a330neo orders (registrations from n427dx to n439dx). The registration surplus is for 11 planes (from n440dx to n450dx) reserved 07 Nov 2023.
pages: 612, 613 and 621
Despite lack of additional orders for a330neo from Delta (last 4 deliveries planned in 2025) - above reserved 11 registrations means that Delta may order this number of planes soon. From 2026 Delta will have only both versions of a350 on order (3 a350-900 and unknown number a350-1000 in 2026 to deliver). To replace 44 767-300ER between 2024 and 2030 as Delta plans, needs more planes for delivery in 2025 and 2026 (for replacement and start of new routes in this years). Additional 11 a330neo orders for delivery from 2025 to 2026 will fill the gap in widebody deliveries for Delta (only 10 planned in 2025 - 6 a350-900 + 4 a330-900neo). Delta disclosed in newest quarterly report that 20 widebody options taken 12 january 2024 are divided between 10 a350-900 and 10 a330-900neo: page 22 of document or 24 in pdf viewer 10 options for a330neo probably for deliveries in 2026 and 2027.
