...apparently it clipped a power line as it turned to try for an emergency landing. :-(
I imagine the investigation will, rightly, take some time.

Very sad news indeed. A test crew will really know the plane and check all systems before. Hope they find out what exactly went wrong.

The engines have been the most troublesome aspect of the A400M development. I recall a number of other issues before.

It was practically brand new development with a lot of issues and changes on the way..... It is the most powerful turboprop engine manufactured.... so "toothing" problems can be expected.
