Some information pictures of yesterday's "Last Flight" for the SWISS Avro RJ100, nicknamed Jumbolino by defunct airline Crossair in Switzerland. We took off at 11:04 in Zurich (ZRH) and landed back there at 13:03. We did a bit of sight seeing in Switzerland, some of the famous places we saw were the Matterhorn, the Aletsch Glacier and the Lake Lucerne. I set on seat 9A, which was gladly not right next to engine but a bit behind it. This was our flight plan:
Great pics of what is certainly one of the more interesting regional aircraft out there and the scenery around Switzerland is great as well!. Sad to see them flying into retirement. I know they're considered as one of the quieter aircraft out there but for those who have heard/flown it, how does it compare to the modern regional jets? Thanks JKKW! In the cabin it‘s actually very quiet in my opinion. Only the sound of the flaps is quite loud! The cabin is much more spacious than on an EMB-190, i would always choose the RJ100 over an Embraer, but sadly not going to happen anymore

Carry on space is very limited below the wings. Some airlines had high density seating onboard. I have to say I prefer the Embraers for creature comfort. You really can see progress here. Even compared to the A320.

Thank you both for your insights! and it's interesting how you both came to different conclusions on the aircraft compared to the Embraers. Each to their own (or as Airboche mentioned, it might be down to the configuration)! At least from what I've seen of the C Series, it'll provide a very nice replacement from a passenger comfort point of view.

I have flown several times in both Embraer and RJs and I do agree completely with airboche. The Embraers offer much better cabin - at least in my experience. If you are unlucky to sit under the wings forget any hand luggage - the space is for a notebook in slim bag and that is all. What happens (every time) people with bags put them else where and there is always fight for the rare space.
My feeling (only feeling) it is the noisiest passenger airplane - but I do not have any numbers.
To sum it up - going with the "jumbolino" always sucks.
They are nice to look at, but fortunately their era is past.

Final flight of RAF BAE146 ZE700 heading to the museum at St Athan. I remember it being delivered to Northolt in 1986 !
