I see I was beaten by Fabien with the Bloomberg link on the Thai thread. Can I suggest we have a new thread for re-sales to include all disposals and subsequently scrapping. I seem to remember EK stating they would scrap rather than sell...... Many thanks, JT

Lets look at the second hand frames that could be made available between now and 2018, and make the following assumptions:
MS and TG do decide to each dispose of their 2 oldest frames
MSN 2 is flight worthy with new RR engines
MSN 162 & 167 have RR engines re-installed
That adds up to 12 RR powered frames... What amount of engineering work would need to be done to bring them all up to the same basic stripped down configuration? IMHO I believe AB should put together a dedicated commercial and engineering team to work on this in order to secure the resale of not only these aircraft, but subsequent second-hand aircraft. Having such relatively new aircraft languishing until eventual part out is the other alternative. Not an ideal outcome I should think.

12 ? To me, (2x2) + 1 + 2 = 7 MH or TG's 'oldest' A380s are ... less than 3 years old !

Hasn't MSN2 gone to the Museum?.... No, it's on flightline. In my opinion msn 2 is more saleable than msn 4. Third prototype of a380 (msn 2) has only 2 years flight testing (from 3.11.2005 to 27.09.2007 and one flight 8.03.2012). Second prototype of a380 (msn 4) has about 9 and half years flight testing (from 18.10.2005 to 2.06.2015) and should be destined for museum after withdrawn from service.

I was meaning gone to the Museum or planned for the Museum, sorry Anyways, regardless of flying times I had understood that MSN2 is the one frame officially planned for the Museum or did I miss anything?....

Neither MSN2 nor 4 are very attractive to airlines seeking A380s, as they are very over weight versions compared to what one would get from a new build today. On top of that they both have the composite wing ribs that require significantly more inspections than a current build wing. Sadly, it is difficult to see either 2 or 4 finding a home with an airline. Given that there are later versions that could be sold, the ex-Skymark units for example, or perhaps the Transaero units?

I thought MSN 2 had undergone major rework in TLS ahead of its contracted and collapsed sale as a Saudi prince's flying palace ? If so, she may be a decent offering.
