OK - my understanding: After the experience with QR and A350 AB does not want QR as launch customer for the "bread and butter" product but they can not say it publicly i.e. they are maneuvering around. QR does not want the neos in this moment and in this state of development of the PW engine. i.e. both parties are happy with the situation but must find some solution to sound like there are other reasons. But as always time will tell + we will probably never know the real reasons = we will only observe what is happening.

Fabrice Bregier at the 2016 annual media briefing has said that he expects certification for the A321neo with CFM engines at around the end of the first quarter.
