Airbus has inaugurated in Hamburg a new highly automated fuselage structure assembly line. The facility has been especially designed to manufacture longer sections for the A321 ACF. Airbus' release includes hints that Airbus expects this new tool to help put an end to existing A321 production headaches. The following quote from Michael Schoellhorn, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, seems particularly clear, though I may be reading too much in it : "We now need to deliver in line with our commitments made to customers while ensuring overall competitiveness". www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-releases/en/2019/10/airbus-inaugurates-new-a320-structure-assembly-line-in-hamburg.html

Missed this but isn't this AA's response to the fact of Boeing's unrevealed product changes of the 737Max?

There is no problem, nothing new here it just mentions a difficult ramp-up of the output, thing that will soon be absorbed down.

Nothing new, that's true, but the problem has been plaguing A321neo production for such a long time that I would not downplay it. I'm not sure Airbus is in full control yet.

You are right it's not a new problem, we have been posting / speculating / posting articles that mention the A321 production "issues" for many a month now ! AB have made improvements, but they are not over the problems just yet.
