Didn't know much about this until now.
Stratolaunch Systems is building a new 6-engined aircraft with a wingspan wider than anything that's flying now and is poised to make its first flight in 2016. They're using recycled parts such as the Pratt & Whitney engines, flight deck and avionics from two disused 747-400s.
