Additional 4 a330 for rwandair this year: www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/54828-rwandair-to-dramatically-expand-widebody-fleet-by-late-4q17"RwandAir (WB, Kigali) has announced it is planning to further expand its widebody fleet with the addition of four more A330s this year alone. In its application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP), the Rwandan national carrier said that aside from the A330-200 and A330-300 delivered late last year, it expects to add two more A330s in each of July and December of this year for a total of six. It did not state whether the aircraft would be acquired from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) or leased. Other aircraft due to arrive this year include one more B737-800 from Air Lease Corporation in May and two CRJ-900s slated for November. Added to its existing fleet of two A330s, three B737-800s, one B737-700, two Dash 8-400s, and two CRJ-900s, RwandAir will operate a total of eighteen aircraft by the end of 2017. Collectively, the aircraft will be used in RwandAir's regional African and longhaul expansion plan which will commence this quarter with the launch of flights to Mumbai Int'l and London Gatwick. The airline plans to also serve Guangzhou, China, as well as Frankfurt Int'l, Germany, and the United States where flights are expected to start in August 2018. Though no destination was specified, maverick CEO John Mirenge has mentioned New York JFK in past interviews. It is noted that the launch of flights to the United States is, however, contingent on Rwanda securing an International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) Category 1 rating with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). RwandAir is 99% owned by the Government of Rwanda represented by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, with the remaining 1% owned by Robert Bayigamba, a Rwandan national."

I assume used A330s if they are getting them already in 2017? Used, or possibly leased, or both ! Some lessors may have A330s, whether used or new, available for lease.

According to ATDB, this aircraft will be registered 9XR-WT. No official statement from Airbus, RwandAir or a lessor aviation company about the possible arrival of A330 Neo into the RwandAir fleet.
