It has got to be a hardware fix (new shaft?) A new shaft ?? That would take more than a year ! Fortunately, no need for such extreme steps to solve a small issue.

The above source mentions several primer-painted tails (A320s and A330s). Is this a permanent practice or are there other reasons ?

The above source mentions several primer-painted tails (A320s and A330s). Is this a permanent practice or are there other reasons ? "primer/tail painted" It means the frame is in primer (from pre FAL), but the tail is painted in the final color scheme. It doesn't mean the tail is in primer painted. Edit: Just read the A330 thread, I thought you were familar with this status as this is standard for A350s and A380s. The report is not only from the flightline. So 1st you have all frames just out FAL waiting for paint. You have the frames in P18. Not all paintjobs are not done in TLS. This frames are on the flightline and have to prepared for 1st flight. Some are just later painted after 1st flight in TLS.
