This is the best possible way to start the new year. Thank you, pa380scal ! Here is a working link to the AirInsight story. airinsight.com/2015/12/31/ana-buying-a380s/Let's hope this deal comes through - ANA could be the mysterious airline interested in 10 A380s Leahy mentioned a few months ago. I had been hoping for such a development since Airbus voted for ANA (against a major Airbus customer, DL !) in the Skymark bankruptcy process. Of course, three frames is too few to make sense, unless the deal is to test the aircraft on some routes before ANA makes a decision.

It is said that ANA will buy 3 A380 - odd to buy only 3.. No, not odd. Msn's 162 and 167 are white-tails in TLS, parts for msn 185 are stored somewhere. ANA could only take over Skymark with the approval of Airbus and I'm pretty sure that taking the above mentioned frames was part of the deal.

According to AeroTelegraph, ANA will only fly to Hawaii with the A380: link (in German) EDIT: link already in spotterxfw 's post

I don't think a fleet of three would make economic sense. That's why I think either it is just a trial operation, or ANA will take a few more sooner or later. I would not be surprised to learn that Amedeo is part of a larger deal.

We still need confirmation from Airbus and ANA that the deal is coming through. Would it be a 2015 or a 2016 order ?
