does a customer have a say in things like these? at this point in the production process? i would expect them to inspect the finished plane not every subassembly...

The customer walks with the aircraft from the begin of final assembly until the very end.

Regarding Qatar's concerns on the A350: Not surprised about QR's frustration calling out UTC over reliability concerns. UTC is also the parent company of Pratt & Whitney. Key systems for the aircraft (A350) and engine include: Some of these systems are actually from Goodrich, like the A350-1000 MLG, but of course it's all the same after the acquisition by UTC recently.

It seems QR is escalating their issues with UTC. First started with PW engines in A320 neo (PW is part of UTC). And now this. Interesting.

To me it seems just typical Uturn-Al.
It seems that Airbus has learned the lesson and not to ever again take QR as a first customer.

Tianjin Airlines may become an A350 customer: Tianjin Airlines are owned by the Grand China Air, that is owned by the Hainan Government, the HNA group and George Soros. It is therefore connected to big players in aviation.
