It sounds more like the order for Air Austral has been transfered to some financial company, like Air Accord that has 3 A380s on order which it "got" from Transaero You're right, it does sound suspicious. And I also find it hard to believe that the +2 and -2 this time are completely unrelated. However, in the case of the Transaero/Air Accord issue, Airbus only noted one cancellation in the December spreadsheet, and moved the remaining three orders quietly to "Air Accord". No order for these three was noted. This time, they note the Air Austral cancellation (-2), and at the same time (dated March 31) a new order by "Undisclosed" (+2). Remains to be seen if this indicates a serious order, or if it's just a bookkeeping trick because the numbers look better this way...

The new order is all the more interesting as it was not expected. The small size suggests a top up order from an existing customer. It sounds more like the order for Air Austral has been transfered to some financial company, like Air Accord that has 3 A380s on order which it "got" from Transaero The order is mentioned as new by Airbus. So the upper scenario is unlikely for me. "The new business during March involved two A380s from an undisclosed customer" www.airbus.com/company/market/orders-deliveries/and moved the remaining three orders quietly to "Air Accord". No order for these three was noted. Sounds different, doesn't it?

The A380 conversions is the Air Austral order for 2 aircraft being cancelled and an order being booked for 2 undisclosed A380s. ... Interestingly, the Air France conversion from 2 A380s to 3 A359s have jet to be reflected in the book. The new order is all the more interesting as it was not expected. The small size suggests a top up order from an existing customer. An EK order would be much larger, unless they take the ex-Skymark frames and negociated a specific agreement to that purpose. It could be QR firming up two of its options, or SQ preparing to roll over its fleet, but I hope for a BA order. The AF cancellation must not have been finalised by the lawyers yet. BA have 7 options already ! And said they were not interested in them at this time / price.

EK is behind the order for 2 aircraft If true (haven't seen any confirmation neither from Airbus or Emirates yet) at least it is a solid and real order, not just some finance company used as a placeholder to protect pre-payments
